New Anger Management Ad

The countdown is on for the return of Charlie Sheen to our television screens. His new FX comedy Anger Management is set to premiere of June 28th with two back to back episodes starting at 9pm EST. We all know the story about his being fired from the hit series Two and a Half Men. Charlie was replaced by Ashton Kutcher and though the show started off with strong ratings, the novelty of Kutcher joining the cast has seemed to wear off and the show recently reached an all time low for viewers. Are fans ready for the return of Charlie Sheen back to television? That remains to be seen, but test audiences have given very positive reviews of the first couple of episodes. It will remain to be seen how the show will do. Until then, FX and Charlie are having fun with entertaining promos for the show.

HBO renews Game of Thrones for Season 3

What comes as no surprise, HBO recently announced that it will renew its hit series Game of Thrones for a third season. From the very first episode of this incredible series, the show has been a hit for HBO and has held steady in the ratings. For the second season, the series has been averaging around 3.8 million viewers. The show is definitely on pace to eclipse the ratings from the very successful Season 1!

Grimm renewed for Season 2!

We won't see a brand new episode of Grimm until March 30th, but we do have some great news to share. NBC has renewed Grimm for a second season! although not a huge breakout hit for the network, Grimm has remained solid in the ratings with the difficult Friday night 9pm time slot. Earlier in the season, things were not looking so great for the series and there was some doubt if there would be a second season, but Grimm fans can breathe a sign of relief!

Touch returns to FOX

After what seemed like forever, Touch finally returns to FOX on Monday the 19th with a brand new episode. The original preview episode aired on January 25th with a solid debut of almost 12 million viewers. The episode received great reviews from fans and critics alike. What seemed like a hard task to do, Kiefer Sutherland allowed the audience to forget that he was Agent Jack Bauer for 8 seasons on 24 and care for a father who was dealing with a special needs child. That speaks wonders about Sutherland's acting prowess and how he can suck you into a role. With strong performances from not only Sutherland, but Danny Glover and newcomer David Mazouz, Touch looks to be one of the stand out shows of the television season although it is a mid-season entry. You can find more information and background on the show at FOX's official site for Touch. Just click this link below. Touch will begin airing regularly on Monday nights at 9pm. Alcatraz will move to the 8pm slot. UPDATE: Touch does not return to FOX until Thursday, March 22nd! Sorry for the confusion! Official Touch website

Homeland and Dexter get premiere date!

In a tale of two series coming back after different opinions on its previous season, both Dexter and Homeland will be returning on Showtime September 30th. Dexter, which many thought had one of its weakest seasons to date will premiere at 9pm EST. Recently, star Michael C. Hall signed a new 2 year extension to his contract. On the flip side, Homeland will return right after Dexter at the 10 pm time slot. Homeland stars Damian Lewis and Claire Daines and was widely considered the best drama of last year. In our opinion, it was the best drama we've seen in the last 10 years. President Obama is such a fan of the show, that Damian Lewis recently let it slip during an interview with BBC television host Graham Norton, that he was invited to the White House for the upcoming State Dinner with the British Prime Minister! Talk about being a fan of the show!

Supernatural - Killer Clowns review

For a show that is in its seventh season, it must be hard for the writers to come up original and fresh ideas. If you take that statement one step further, it must be hard for writers of the show Supernatural to come up with new ideas and stories. Granted, for the past seven years they have fought demons, angels, werewolves, wendigos, Lucifer and all sorts of supernatural and evil things. The seventh season for me has been hit or miss so far. Although there have been some great episodes like Meet the Boss, to me this season has had many filler episodes. It would be kind of hard for a series on this long to go back to its heyday and capture that magic again, but Supernatural still boasts some of the best writing on television today and still can give you an episode that is just plain fantastic. The big bad of this season has been the Leviathan, which I still don't know how they will fit into the overall arc of the season. For a group of creatures being so bad ass and a leader who can't be stopped, the Leviathan angle has been pretty weak if not somewhat forgotten this year. I trust the writers will build up to an epic showdown between the Leviathan and the Winchester brothers for the season finale. So, preparing to watch the latest episode of Supernatural entitled 'Plucky Pennywhistles's Magnical Menagerie', I was wondering what I would be up the sleeves of the writers for this episode. I have to admit, the title alone made me chuckle and gave me hope that this would be an episode that reminded me of some of the funnier Supernatural episodes like Mystery Spot, Hell House and Bad Day at Black Rock. Although the episode doesn't give us anything particularly new in story or continuing the arc of the series, it made for one hell of an enjoyable ride. I don't know what it is about clowns that elicit such emotional responses from people. Either you love them as is the intention or if you are someone like me, you hate clowns! Something about clowns just creep me out and once I got past the creep factor of the clowns, I found myself smiling and laughing out loud at many parts of the episode.

From the opening scene of Sam running and hiding behind the car, only to look up and see a clown chasing him had me laughing out loud. It reminded me of the hilarious opening scene of Yellow Fever were Dean was running form the little puppy with the pink bow....classic Supernatural. This episode has the feeling of the earlier seasons of Supernatural, weird and funny at the same time. People are dying mysteriously. One man is killed by a giant octopus, another impaled by a unicorn and one killed by a shark. All of these strange deaths lead to a place that is suppose to be were bad things go away and kids draw pictures of their worst fears..Plucky's. Think of it as the television version of Chucky Cheese. We are treated to two timelines in the episode, the past one were the guys are investigating the crimes and the current timeline were Sam is getting his butt kicked by clowns. We know from an episode in the early seasons of Supernatural that Sam has an issue with clowns, so it was funny to see him react and freak out during his confrontation with the clowns. Jared played those scenes extremely well and for someone who is afraid of clowns, he was dead on! While that is happening, we find out that one thing the killings had in common is that they all were on someone's birthday and that said adult that was killed was either too busy to take the kid, not show up or be just not there for their kid. Sam decides to interrogate several of the employees and only one seems to stick out. After the shift manager is questioned and leaves, Dean follows her only to see her smoke a joint. Cut to the chase, it was obvious that the geeky employee was the one who was behind the killings. He would take the kids drawings and bring those creatures to life to kill the adult that did wrong by the child. Of all the bad guys that have been in Supernatural episodes, this one has to be the weakest. There was nothing truly scary or frightening about him. He was just a nerdy, lonely kid who blamed his parents for the death of his brother. Who comes back to life and kills him in the end in front of Dean. Nice little wrap up, but nothing too exciting. Although I did enjoy this episode and it had some great moments, being in it's seventh season and trying to come up with fresh ideas may be hurting the series a bit. There would be a good argument for a 13 episode season rather than 22 or 23 episodes. Some of the best dramas on television right now are using that format and it has proven to be a very smart move. Full seasons tend to drag and we get alot of filler episodes and I think that is one of the things hurting Supernatural right now. But, in the end, it was a nice episode to watch, we got to see Sam and Dean work well together again, laugh at each other and both get some great one liners. Something I am definitely missing in the world of Supernatural.

Happy Endings - "The St. Valentine's Day Maxssacre" Review

"Put on some D'Angelo and whip out my Pe'Angelo"

That quote was one of many funny lines and moments from last night's hilarious episode of Happy Endings entitled The St. Valentine's Day Maxssacre. First, before I go any further with my review of this episode, I have to say that I have jumped on the Happy Endings bandwagon a little late in the game. Granted, I did know about the show and the fact that Damon Wayans son was part of the ensemble cast  and I made mental notes to watch the series,  but for whatever reason I never did. I finally had a weekend of down time and went through the first season in record time. I am happy to say that Happy Endings is one of the smartest and funniest comedies on television today if not the past 5 years.

Last night's episode obviously focused on the theme of Valentine's Day. I was very curious to see how the dynamic of that sometimes stressful day would play out with the gang. Penny wanted to break up with a guy she called the winker but had to wait a week or what she called the 'break up window'. It turns out he dumped her first because she abbreviates or "abbrevs" many of her words. Dave started to play in to the notion that he was in the break up window zone because his girlfriend cancelled on two dates they had planned. That led to him missing out on a threesome with his girlfriend and her female friend who was in town for that specific event. Alex,  who normally is the ditz in the group had a strange fascination and knowledge about the history of Valentine's Day which I though was ah-mah-zing!  She thought she would find her true love at a V-Day party which turned out to be in a sleazy part of town. While dressed somewhat like a prostitute, she is mistaken for one and arrested. Max had a dislike of the holiday and we soon find out why, but the highlight of the episode was the Brad and Jane story.

We learn within the first 5 minutes of the episode that you can't surprise Jane. They flashback to the gang waiting for her to enter her apartment to surprise her on her birthday. She enters the apartment, they yell surprise and she maces all of them. I found myself on the floor laughing. Meanwhile, Brad is planning a romantic evening for the two of them, but first, he must go get his teeth cleaned at the dentist. Here is where the brilliance starts. The scene of Brad dancing into the dentist's office with Frank Sinatra's "How Lucky Can One Guy Be" was the highlight of the show. If Damon Wayans Jr. doesn't receive an Emmy nod for Best Supporting actor in a comedy, it would be a crime. His talking with the little kid in the office while slobber is falling out of his mouth was priceless!

Throughout the episode, Alex believes that someone is going to find love that night. Out of all the obvious possibilities, it turns out Max is the one who finds love. After picking up Alex from the police station, he has one more pickup. Turns out it's his ex and the last time he saw him was when he was dumped on Valentine's Day. Max ends up reconnecting with his former flame, played by guest star James Wolk and Alex can once again believe in the story of St. Valentine's Day.

As I said earlier, this episode was filled with great lines and moments. From the high school jock nod to Brad being high and dumping his face into a bowl of chocolate trying to find the strawberry he dropped. One important thing happened as well. There are obviously going to be comparisons between Happy Endings and Friends because they share the sort of group dynamic, but Happy Endings has its own vibe and feel which is different from Friends, dare I say a bit more risqué! But, the fact that high Brad can jump into the limo and call each of his pals one of the characters from the hit NBC show was hilarious and dead on.

Happy Endings flew under the radar most of its first season, but critics and fans are starting to catch on to the show and I for one can't wait to see what the new "gang" does next. What did you guys think of the episode?

No more 'House' calls

I am sure many of the cast and crew saw the writing on the wall, but FOX announced Wednesday that its long running medical drama House would not be returning for a 9th season. High production costs and low ratings are part of the reason the show will not be returning. In its heyday, House was averaging 20 million viewers an episode. Fast forward to 2012, and the show is averaging around 9 million viewers. Both FOX and the producers of the show made the announcement official on Wednesday ending any speculation for the show's return. There were rumblings that since NBC Universal produced the show that the series would move to NBC, but after 8 seasons and 177 episodes in the can, the show would not be moving to NBC. Hugh Laurie who played Dr. Gregory House was nominated for six Emmys and the show itself was nominated for 4 Emmys.

SyFy brings Sharks to Jersey Shore

In a move that will probably make many people scratch their heads, the SyFy channel has given the green light to a television movie entitled Jersey Shore Shark Attack. Now, I know many of you are thinking, probably hoping that the entire cast from the MTV reality hit are going to be involved, but such is not the case except for VINNY GAUDAGNINO. Other cast confirmed for the television movie are JOEY FATONE, PAUL SORVINO, TONY SIRICO and JACK SCALIA. Needless to say this television film is going to make Jersey Shore party goers think twice about swimming while at the shore. Go here  to read the official press release from SyFy. The movie is set to debut in June.
