A&E Cancels 'Longmire', Will Be Shopped To Other Networks

longmire

Looks like there are going to be some fans not happy with the network today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, A&E has decided to cancel Longmire after three seasons.

Longmire starred Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff. It was the networks most watched original series of all time which makes this move a bit of a surprise.

"We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together," A&E said in a statement.

The good news is that the series will be shopped around to other networks to be possibly picked up for another season. In it's third season, Longmire was averaging 3.4 million viewers per episode.

Interview: Brennan Elliott

DebbiemacombersCedarCove_1001U_2778

Currently airing its second season, the Hallmark Channel original series Cedar Cove has become a solid hit for the network. The show is based on author Debbie Macomber's book series of the same name and follows Judge Olivia Lockhart as she weaves her way through relationships with friends and family as well as her job as a municipal court judge. The show has been consistently winning its time slot on Saturday nights and is pulling in fantastic ratings for the network.

One reason the show is doing so well is the work of actor Brennan Elliott who plays land developer and businessman Warren Saget. Brennan should be a name you know as he has a resume that would be the envy of many in Hollywood. He’s appeared in hit television series like Strong Medicine, Cold Case, The 4400, NCIS and The Crazy Ones to name a few. His talents aren’t just relegated to the small screen; he’s appeared in films such as The Silencer, Confession and Black Widow.

Brennan sat down with the Pop Culture Principle to talk about Cedar Cove, how important the fans are to the series and how he doesn’t play Warren Saget as a bad guy.

Pop Culture Principle – For those who have not seen the show, can you tell us about your character Warren Saget?

Brennan Elliott – Warren is a bit of a transplant. He wanted to leave the East coast and settle in a different kind of locale. I made some interesting backstory choices that for health reasons he wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Moving to this smaller lifestyle is better for his health and happiness. The island life is a much slower pace and at the same time, there are some business opportunities there as well. He has to deal with the locals and there way of life and how they deal with day to day life. Anybody from the big city who goes to a small town, the dichotomy and the dynamic between those two different types of people and cultures are very different. These differences can add a lot of humor, drama and a lot of interesting dynamics and conflicts.

Warren is a bit of a black sheep when he comes to town. The way he lives his life and operates not only his business, but his personal life, rubs people in Cedar Cove the wrong way.

Jimmy Kimmel Organizes 'Friends' Reunion

Jimmy Kimmel Live

Jennifer Aniston was a guest on the Jimmy Kimmel Show last night to promote her latest film Life of Crime which opens in theaters this Friday. During their interview, Kimmel confessed that he was a huge fan of Friends and being such a big fan, he had written his own Friends fan-fiction.

He asked Jennifer if she would read the fan-fiction with him and proceeded to escort her to a set that was the exact replica of the kitchen on the hit series. Moments later during the read, both Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow appeared to help read with Aniston and Kimmel.

It was great to see the three Friends back together again if only for a moment. We did find out that both Ross and Joey weren't there because they were both bitten by Ross' monkey Marcel and contracted rabies.

Watch the hilarious reunion below:

Interview: Jamie Gray Hyder

jamie-white-tank

Many people have the dream to go to Hollywood and become a big star. What most don’t realize is that it takes a lot of work and dedication to make it in Tinsel town. You have to have confidence and believe in yourself. One person who doesn’t have a problem with any of that is actress Jamie Gray Hyder. Her breakout role was playing Danielle on the hit HBO series True Blood. Originally scheduled for two episodes, the producers of the series enjoyed her work so much; she ended up being on the show for its fifth and sixth seasons.

Currently she is one of the stars of the USA Network series Graceland. She plays Luciano Solano, the sister to Carlito, who runs the profitable and dangerous Solano cartel. Although her character is trying to live a normal life, she keeps getting pulled back into the family business.

Jamie’s talents don’t stop there. She’s a classically trained singer, has appeared in numerous music videos and lent her voice talents to the video game Killzone: Shadow Fall as Echo. She was kind enough to sit down with us to talk about Graceland, what working on True Blood meant to her career and what she would say to up and coming actors.

Showtime Renews 'Ray Donovan', 'Masters of Sex'

Ray-Donovan-Liev-Schreiber

Hot off the continued critical and audience acclaim for the second seasons of RAY DONOVAN and MASTERS OF SEX, SHOWTIME is green lighting third seasons for both of its hit drama series. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. Both series will receive 12 one-hour episode orders, and will begin production in early 2015.

“Both RAY DONOVAN and MASTERS OF SEX are quintessentially SHOWTIME: bold, provocative, premium television with production values at the top of the food chain,” says Nevins. “These acclaimed shows are filled with complex and interesting characters and settings that will no doubt give audiences compelling television to invest in for seasons to come.”

MASTERS OF SEX scored five Emmy® Award nominations this year, including nods for actors Lizzy Caplan, Beau Bridges and Allison Janney, who was honored this past weekend with an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Margaret Scully. RAY DONOVAN’s Jon Voight is also an Emmy contender, receiving his first ever series nomination for his role as Mickey Donovan. Both series continue to resonate with the network’s subscribers, delivering season high numbers for their past few episodes. MASTERS OF SEX’s fifth episode delivered the series’ highest ratings of the season, up 18 percent versus the season two premiere. The series currently averages nearly four million viewers across platforms per week. Similarly, RAY DONOVAN’s fifth episode was up 16 percent versus its season two premiere, and season-to-date is averaging five million weekly viewers across platforms.

AMC Orders Second Season Of 'Halt and Catch Fire'

3030972-poster-p-1-halt-and-catch-fire-showrunner-jonathan-lisco-explains-how-to-create-great-characters

AMC today announced that it had ordered a second season of the drama “Halt and Catch Fire,” a show that attracted a committed core audience and notable critical acclaim across its initial season. The show will return to AMC next summer.

“This is a show about invention, experimentation, and the inherent risks in trying to break new ground – themes that really resonate with us as a network and attracted a passionate audience,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “We have a history of demonstrating patience through the early seasons of new shows, betting on talent and building audience over time. We see that opportunity here and look forward to a second season of ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ from creators Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers, and showrunner Jonathan Lisco.”

“We're thrilled to have the opportunity to continue telling this story. Our series about creation, innovation, and taking bold risks wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our partners at AMC, a network known for these very things,” Lisco, Cantwell and Rogers said. “Harnessing the momentum of our first season, this next chapter will take the rich characters our audience has come to love in new and surprising directions.”
