Hot off its season six premiere this past Sunday, which delivered the series’ biggest premiere performance ever across platforms, Showtime has ordered a seventh season of Shameless.

The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc.

Shameless received a 12-episode order, with production on season seven starting later this year.

“Shameless has clearly resonated with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights over the past 6 years," said Levine. "We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by John Wells, Nancy Pimental and the entire cast, producers and writers – and we so appreciate Shames’ clear and distinctive voice.”

The series stars William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, along with Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, and Cameron Monaghan.

Showtime also announced the pick-up of a new one-hour comedy series I'm Dying Up Here.

Set in L.A.’s celebrated, infamous stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s, during which the careers of many of the comedy superstars began, the series delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that are required to stand alone in front of an audience and make them laugh.

From executive producer Jim Carrey, I'm Dying Up Here stars Academy Award® winner Melissa Leo, Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, Andrew Santino, RJ Cyler, Erik Griffin and Stephen Guarino.
