90210 to end after 5 seasons

902101

After 5 seasons of backstabbing, fights and love triangles, 90210 will come to an end on The CW in May. The announcement was made by Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW. “The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Pedowitz.  “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.” After a decent start in Season 1, ratings had declined steadily to the point where episodes in Season 5 were averaging under 1 million total viewers. The series finale will air on May 13th.

Hill Harper joins USA's Covert Affairs

Hill-HARPER_lower1

Hill Harper (“CSI: NY”) has signed on to star as a series regular in season four of USA’s critically-acclaimed drama series COVERT AFFAIRS opposite Golden Globe®-nominated Piper Perabo (“Looper”),  Christopher Gorham (“Ugly Betty”), Kari Matchett (“Invasion”) and Peter Gallagher (“The O.C.”). The series, produced by Universal Cable Productions, films in Toronto and will span 16 episodes for season four. Harper will play an ambitious CIA station chief based in Latin America. Intelligent, charismatic and a bit cocky, he ascended to a very high position at a relatively young age and is plotting his way into a bigger position back in Washington. In his journey for greater power, he will attempt to make Annie and Auggie his allies, but his questionable actions will cause our leads to doubt his intentions. Season four of COVERT AFFAIRS picks up after CIA operative Annie (Perabo) and her longtime best friend and blind CIA tech-op Auggie (Gorham) finally acknowledge their romantic feelings for one another.  Things get complicated at the agency, as Annie aligns with Henry Wilcox (guest star Gregory Itzin) in a dangerous, covert mission that has potentially scandalous consequences for the CIA. Harper is an award-winning actor, bestselling author and philanthropist. A star of the long running TV drama CSI: NY and the author of four New York Times bestsellers, he has earned seven NAACP Image Awards for his writing and acting. Harper is also the founder of the Manifest Your Destiny Foundation, dedicated to empowering under-served youth through mentorship, scholarship and grant programs. From Universal Cable Productions, COVERT AFFAIRS is executive produced by Doug Liman (SUITS, the "Bourne" trilogy, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith") and David Bartis (SUITS, "The O.C.") through Hypnotic and is written and executive produced by show creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord.

Hannibal gets premiere date

hannibal-nbc

NBC has finally announced the premiere date for its new and highly anticipated series Hannibal. The new series will premiere on April 4th in the 10pm time slot. If you remember, that slot on NBC has been a difficult one to keep filled. Several shows have been in that slot and have all been cancelled, Prime Suspect, Awake, The Firm and most recently Do No Harm.

The series stars Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham's unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone - even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he's pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there's no villain they can't catch. If Will only knew.

Only time will tell how Hannibal will do in the 10pm slot.
