Daniel Wu To Star In AMC Martial Arts Series 'Badlands'

AMC has cast Hong Kong film star Daniel Wu as the lead of the network's martial arts drama “Badlands” (working title). Wu also serves as an executive producer on the series.

“Badlands” is a genre-bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West.” In a land controlled by feudal barons, “Badlands” tells the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Wu) and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

“After working together with such a talented team of executive producers, writers and executives at AMC, I am excited for the opportunity to bring this character to life‎," said Wu.

AMC Releases Key Art, New Teaser For 'Better Call Saul'

AMC released today the key art for its next new drama series “Better Call Saul.” From “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan and “Breaking Bad” writer Peter Gould.

The highly anticipated series will focus on the evolution of the popular “Breaking Bad” character Saul Goodman, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk, before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.

The series debuts with a two-night premiere event with the pilot airing Sunday, February 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by the second episode on Monday, February 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series will then continue to air Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.

AMC Orders Pilot For Series Based on Comic Book Franchise 'Preacher'

AMC today announced that it has ordered a pilot for a series based on the popular comic book franchise “Preacher.” The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for TV by Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) and Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is The End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”). Rogen & Goldberg will produce through their Point Grey banner, along with Neal Moritz’s Original Film. The pilot was written by Sam Catlin. Rogen & Goldberg are attached to direct.

“Every once in a while you find a project where all the elements line up beautifully. With ‘Preacher,’ it starts with a bold, compelling, and thought-provoking comic book series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and a whole lot of fans who already know Jesse Custer, Cassidy, and Tulip,” said Joel Stillerman, AMC’s executive vice president of original programming, production and digital content. “Add to that the passionate and talented Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin, an incredible producing team in Neal Moritz, the Original Film team and our good friends at Sony Pictures Television, and we have everything we need to be VERY excited to move forward on ‘Preacher.”

"The Walking Dead' Companion Series Adds Two Cast Members

With The Walking Dead setting ratings records with its recently aired mid-season finale, things are looking great for the durable series. Now comes news that the companion series is still moving full steam ahead.

According to Deadline, the series has added actors Frank Dillane & Alycia Debnam to the highly anticipated pilot. The pilot was created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson and will be directed by Adam Davidson.

According to the site, the pilot, known as Cobalt, takes place during the same zombie apocalypse depicted on The Walking Dead but in a different location. It revolves around a male divorced teacher and a female guidance counselor.

AMC today announced acclaimed director David Dobkin (“The Judge,” “Wedding Crashers,” “The Change-Up,” “Shanghai Knights”) had joined its martial arts drama “Badlands” (working title) as series director and an executive producer.

Emily Beecham (“28 Weeks Later,” “The Village”), Sarah Bolger (“The Tudors,” “In America”) and Oliver Stark (“The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box,” “My Hero”) have joined the cast as series regulars.

AMC Renews 'Hell On Wheels' For Fifth And Final Season

AMC today announced that “Hell on Wheels” will be returning for a fifth and final season of 14 episodes on AMC. Seven new episodes will air next summer, with the final seven episodes of the series following in the summer of 2016. The Western period drama opened up a new night of original programming for AMC on Saturday and in its current season is delivering an average of 3.4 million viewers on the most challenging night of the week for television.

“With season five of ‘Hell on Wheels,’ we are proud to bring our trans-continental journey to conclusion for the large, loyal audience that has traveled with Cullen Bohannon and his crew for so many years,” said AMC President Charlie Collier. “We look forward to appropriately honoring ‘Hell on Wheels’ in this final season. 'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Premiere Shatters Ratings Record

The season five premiere of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” delivered the highest ratings in series history. The episode was watched by 17.3 million viewers and 11 million adults aged 18-49, increases of 7% and 6%, respectively, over the season four premiere, the previous record-holder. “The Walking Dead” continues to be the #1 show on television among adults 18-49. Last night’s episode outperformed everything else on television in this key demographic, including Sunday Night Football, by over 2.5 million adults 18-49. With time-shifted playback, the season five premiere should exceed 22 million viewers.

Days away from its season five premiere, AMC announced today that it has renewed “The Walking Dead,” the #1 show on television among adults 18-49 for the last two years and most highly-rated show in cable television history, for a sixth season. The season five premiere is this Sunday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the live season premiere of “Talking Dead” at 10 p.m. ET/PT with host Chris Hardwick and this week’s guests Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero and Conan O’Brien.
