Netflix Renews 'Longmire' For Sixth And Final Season
It's been an interesting run for the Netflix series Longmire, but all good things must come to an end.
Looks like Walt, Vic and the rest of the Longmire gang will continue for another season.
First announced on the official Longmire Facebook page and then confirmed by the Pop Culture Principle, Longmire has been renewed for a fifth season.
It has been a very busy day for the fine folks at Netflix. Today they announced the premiere dates for Longmire and Master of None as well as several other announcements.
The fourth season of Longmire will premiere on Thursday, September 10, 2015 and will consist of 10-episodes.
Netflix, the worlds leading Internet TV network, has ordered a fourth season of the hit drama Longmire, from Warner Horizon Television. Ten new episodes of the series will premiere exclusively in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 2015.
“When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of Longmire, we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great. We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmires story for his large and passionate following,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix.
In a joint statement, the Longmire executive producers said: “Were excited and honored to have the opportunity to bring this show that we love so much, and all its devoted fans, to Netflix.”
Looks like there are going to be some fans not happy with the network today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, A&E has decided to cancel Longmire after three seasons.
Longmire starred Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff. It was the networks most watched original series of all time which makes this move a bit of a surprise.
"We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together," A&E said in a statement.
The good news is that the series will be shopped around to other networks to be possibly picked up for another season. In it's third season, Longmire was averaging 3.4 million viewers per episode.
A&E Network’s critically acclaimed hit series “Longmire” returns for a third season on Monday, June 2 at 10 PM ET/PT. The series stars Australian actor Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, along with Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley.
“Longmire” continues as the network’s #1 original drama series of all time in total viewers with season two averaging 6 million, a record for any A&E drama season delivery (based on Live+7 viewing).
