Bradley Whitford Joins Showtime's 'Happyish'

bradleywhitford

Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) has joined the cast of the SHOWTIME comedy pilot HAPPYISH, playing “Jonathan Cooke,” Thom Payne's boss and an advertising industry legend whose success is due in equal parts to his creative genius and moral cravenness. The new half-hour pilot will be filmed in New York next month, with Oscar® and Golden Globe® nominee Steve Coogan (Philomena, Alan Partridge) and acclaimed actress Kathryn Hahn (Revolutionary Road, We’re The Millers) in the lead roles of Thom and Lee Payne. HAPPYISH is a scathing examination of our pursuit of happiness, a pursuit that might just be the very thing causing our unhappiness in the first place.

An acclaimed television, film, and theater actor, Bradley Whitford is best known for his award-winning role as "Josh Lyman" in The West Wing, which earned him multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. His other television credits include Trophy Wife, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Transparent, Alpha House, The Good Guys, ER, The Secret Lives of Men, Parks and Recreation, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Drunk History, The Mentalist, NYPD Blue, and Shameless on SHOWTIME. Kathryn Hahn To Star In Showtime's 'Happyish'

kathryn

Acclaimed actress Kathryn Hahn (Revolutionary Road, We’re The Millers) will star in the female lead role of “Lee Payne” in the SHOWTIME comedy pilot HAPPYISH. The new half-hour pilot will be filmed in New York next month, with Oscar® and Golden Globe® nominee Steve Coogan (Philomena, Alan Partridge) previously announced as the male lead. HAPPYISH is a comedic, soul-searching examination of our pursuit of happiness, a pursuit that might just be the very thing causing our unhappiness in the first place.

Kathryn Hahn will play the role of Lee, Thom Payne's (Coogan) wife and mother to their six-year-old son Julius. Honest and direct to a considerable fault, Lee believes that people are good and the world can be a better place, which is probably why she is so pissed off: because we aren't, and it can't. But she loves Thom, and Thom loves her, even though they both loathe themselves. Hahn originally filmed the role of Lee Payne for the Happyish pilot in 2013 opposite the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Her television credits include Parks and Recreation, Transparent, Girls, Hung, The Newsroom and Crossing Jordan. Her feature film credits include Revolutionary Road, Step Brothers, Afternoon Delight, Bad Words, We’re The Millers, Wanderlust, The Holiday, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and the upcoming films The Visit, She’s Funny That Way and Tomorrowland.

Written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, BILLIONS is a fictional drama that takes a forensic look at the world of high finance by tracking the approaching collision between two titanic figures – the hard charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhodes (Giamatti), and the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king, Bobby "Axe" Axelrod (Lewis). Acclaimed director Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Divergent, Limitless) has signed on to direct the drama pilot, which will be filmed in New York in early 2015.

One of the most critically-acclaimed and lauded actors in the business, Paul Giamatti’s varied roles have garnered countless nominations and wins, including an Academy Award® nomination for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role” for his role in the feature film Cinderella Man, and multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and wins for his work across film and television. His feature film credits include Sideways, Saving Mr. Banks, The Ides of March, American Splendor, Barney's Version, Win Win, The Last Station, Cold Souls, Straight Outta Compton, 12 Years a Slave and The Illusionist, which was produced by BILLIONS executive producers Brian Koppelman and David Levien.
