'Search Party' And 'People Of Earth' Get Second Season Renewals
TBS today announced 10-episode season 2 renewals of its two most recent critically acclaimed comedies, People of Earth and Search Party.
TBS is doubling down on American Dad!, ordering two more seasons of the top-rated animated hit from Twentieth Century Fox Television, ensuring that the Stan Smith clan will have a home on the network through 2018.
The Upfronts presentations continue and today it was Kevin Reilly, president of TBS and TNT and chief content officer for Turner Entertainment, who took center stage to talk about his vision for TBS and TNT.
During his presentation, Reilly announced several new series pickups as well as several new pilots for both networks.
TBS is hitting the road with a 10-episode order for a new comedy series from The Daily Show's Jason Jones & Samantha Bee. Jones stars in the series, which is inspired by his and Bee's own experiences with family getaways. Also starring are Natalie Zea (Justified, The Following), Ashley Gerasimovich (Louie, We Need to Talk about Kevin) and Liam Carroll (The Neighbors). Production is slated to begin this summer, with the TBS launch scheduled for Q4 2015.
An honest and darkly comedic look at family, TBS's new series will follow a couple and their two young kids as they take a road trip to Florida. Jones stars as unfiltered dad Nate, who packs his wife, Robin (Zea), along with their rebellious daughter Delilah (Gerasimovich) and simpleton son Jared (Carroll), into the family car for what Nate is convinced will be the adventure of a lifetime. Every leg of their trip, however, is fraught with unforeseen disaster as they encounter one hellish turn after another. Plans call for each season of the show to chronicle a different family adventure.
Well fans of Cougar Town, all good things must come to an end.
TBS has announced that the final season of its comedy series Cougar Town will begin on Tuesday January 6th at 10:30/9:30c. The final season of the series will consist of a 13 episode order.
Cougar Town originally aired for three seasons on ABC and was then moved to TBS after ratings began to slide and it seemed that a cancellation was inevitable at ABC.
TBS has ordered a new scripted comedy pilot from The Daily Show's Jason Jones & Samantha Bee. Jason Jones is set to star in the pilot, which is inspired by his and Samantha Bee's own experiences with family getaways. The pilot is being produced by TBS, with a script by Jones and Bee.
The comedy series will follow a family as they take a road trip to Key West. Jason Jones is set to play hopeful dad Nate, who hops in the car with his wife and two young kids for a 24-hour adventure to the Keys. This comedy will prove that no matter how much close proximity can lead a family to get on each other's nerves, precarious situations and interactions with strangers can bring them together again. Should this project get a series greenlight, plans call for each season of the show to chronicle a different trip.
