USA Network Announces Series Pick-Up For 'Mr. Robot'

USA Network announced its first series pick-up from its existing pilot slate for the 2015-2016 season with a 10-episode order for MR. ROBOT (WORKING TITLE). The intense hacker drama from Universal Cable Productions is from writer and executive producer Sam Esmail (“Comet”) and executive producers Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin (“True Detective”) and Chad Hamilton (“Breakup at a Wedding”). The series stars Rami Malek (“24”), Christian Slater (“The Adderall Diaries”), Portia Doubleday (“Her”), Carly Chaikin (“Suburgatory”) and Martin Wallstrom (“Simple Simon”). The pilot was directed by Niels Arden Oplev (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”). The series will shoot in New York.

Daniel Wu To Star In AMC Martial Arts Series 'Badlands'

AMC has cast Hong Kong film star Daniel Wu as the lead of the network's martial arts drama “Badlands” (working title). Wu also serves as an executive producer on the series.

“Badlands” is a genre-bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West.” In a land controlled by feudal barons, “Badlands” tells the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Wu) and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

“After working together with such a talented team of executive producers, writers and executives at AMC, I am excited for the opportunity to bring this character to life‎," said Wu.

Hulu Announces Landmark Deal With FX

Hulu has closed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution for the exclusive subscription video on demand rights to new and upcoming FX and FXX primetime comedy, drama and miniseries in a new, multi-year agreement for FX Networks’ series produced or co-produced by FX Productions (FXP).

The deal will make Hulu the subscription video on-demand (SVOD) home to the largest selection of FX Networks content available through tablets, smartphones, gaming platforms and other internet-connected devices. Current season FX Networks series will remain available via the FXNOW app to authenticated subscribers through their MVPD provider.

Syfy Announces Cast For New Scripted Series 'Dark Matter'

Syfy today announced casting of the new acquired scripted series Dark Matter, which will feature Melissa O’Neil (Broadway production of Les Miserables), Marc Bendavid (Bitten), Anthony Lemke (White House Down), Alex Mallari Jr. (Robocop) and Jodelle Ferland (Twilight) with Roger Cross (The Strain) and Zoie Palmer (Lost Girl).

The series begins production in Toronto on January 7.

Syfy Promotes Chris Regina To Senior Vice-President Of Program Strategy

Syfy today announced that Chris Regina, one of the key architects behind Syfy’s successful acquisitions strategy and the pop culture sensation Sharknado, has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Program Strategy, Syfy and Chiller.

Based in the channel’s New York office, Regina will now report directly to Dave Howe, President, Syfy and Chiller.

In making the announcement, Howe said: “Chris has done a remarkable job building a solid primetime schedule with smart, on-the-brand acquisitions and co-productions, along with being the driving force behind the Sharknado global social media phenomenon. We look forward to his many contributions to the growth of Syfy in the years to come.”

Syfy and Universal Cable Productions today announced that Golden Globe nominee Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) will portray Rupert Boyce, an enigmatic American entrepreneur, in the upcoming six-hour miniseries Childhood’s End.

Adapted for the screen for the first time ever from Arthur C. Clarke’s beloved and influential novel, Childhood’s End will premiere on Syfy in 2015.

FOX Will Not Move Forward With More 'Gracepoint'

It looks like the case it truly closed for FOX's Gracepoint.

According to TVLine, the network will not be moving forward with another season of the low rated series. Although it was billed as a "limited series", the creators behind the show did have plans for a second season.

The series premiered to a disappointing 4.8 million viewers and a 1.2 in the key 18-49 demographic. it's series finale didn't fair much better with 4 million viewers and a 0.9.

AMC Releases Key Art, New Teaser For 'Better Call Saul'

AMC released today the key art for its next new drama series “Better Call Saul.” From “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan and “Breaking Bad” writer Peter Gould.

The highly anticipated series will focus on the evolution of the popular “Breaking Bad” character Saul Goodman, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk, before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.

The series debuts with a two-night premiere event with the pilot airing Sunday, February 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by the second episode on Monday, February 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series will then continue to air Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.

FX Orders Donald Glover Comedy Pilot

FX Networks has ordered the comedy series pilot Atlanta created by and starring award-winning actor and writer Donald Glover (Community, 30 Rock), it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, the Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.

Glover serves as Executive Producer, along with Paul Simms (Girls, Flight of the Conchords, NewsRadio), and Dianne McGunigle of Schiff Company. The pilot will be produced by FX Productions.
