Interview: Charity Shea

headshot4

VH1 recently announced that Season 3 of its scripted show Single Ladies
would be the last for the popular series. Over the past several seasons, we have watched the main characters of the show deal with love, happiness, sadness and deceit. One important player in all of that has been actress Charity Shea who plays April Goldberg. With a handful of episodes left before the series ends, Charity was kind enough to sit down with us and talk about the shows cancellation, what playing April has meant to her and her love for the fans of the show.

Pop Culture Principle - Can you tell us about your character April?

Charity Shea – April is a sweetheart. We always call her the sunshine of the show. She got married at a really young age. When you are 18, you think that is what you are supposed to do because you think you are all grown up. She married the love of her life and then seven years later realizes that she was very domesticated and never really got to hang out with her girls and have a blast. She just became a housewife really quickly. She ends up going out on her own, dating and hanging out with her friends and making different career moves and choices. Throughout all the seasons she is finding herself and learning lessons. She makes a lot of mistakes, but she learns from them. I think she has great integrity and honor and she’s very competitive. She is really a sweetheart and that’s what I really like about her.

HBO Announces 'Game Of Thrones' Returns April 6th

hbo-announces-game-of-thrones-season-4-premiere-date-and-more

Encouraged by the Red Wedding slaughter in the Riverlands that wiped out many of their Stark nemeses, the Lannisters’ hold on the Iron Throne remains intact…but can they survive their own egos, as well as new and ongoing threats from the south, north and east? While an unbowed Stannis Baratheon continues to rebuild his army in Dragonstone, a more immediate danger comes from the south, as Oberyn Martell, the Lannister-loathing “Red Viper of Dorne,” arrives at King’s Landing to attend Joffrey’s wedding to Margaery Tyrell, and perhaps act on an ulterior agenda. In the north, a depleted Night’s Watch seems overmatched against the inexorable Wall advances of Mance Rayder’s army of wildlings, which in turn is being trailed by an even more formidable foe: the undead White Walkers. As if that weren’t enough, Daenerys Targaryen, accompanied by her menacing trio of dragons and army of Unsullied, is poised to liberate Meereen, the largest city in Slaver’s Bay, which could ultimately provide her with enough ships to sail to Westeros and reclaim the Iron Throne.

Isaiah Washington to Return To 'Grey's Anatomy'

isaiah-washington-staying-on-greys-anatomy-publicist-says

Grey's Anatomy fans, we hope you are sitting down right now! Yes, you read the headline correctly! Isaiah Washington is returning to the series to reprise his role as Preston Burke for an episode sometime in May.

With the upcoming departure of Dr. Cristina Yang from the series, they needed something to counteract her departure and we think they've done that big time.

You'll remember that Isaiah left the series because of a gay slur that was directed at co-star T.K. Knight. His character exited the show by leaving Sandra Oh's character at the altar.

“It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey - he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”, said series creator Shonda Rhimes.
