The Wedding March movie franchise is one of the most popular and successful franchises for the Hallmark Channel. Led by Josie Bisset and Jack Wagner, the movies have become must-see television.

Well, the gang is back for a fifth installment called My Boyfriend’s Back Wedding March 5, which will air on Saturday, June 8th at 9/8c on the Hallmark Channel. Joining in the fun of the fifth installed will be Cindy Busby, who is no stranger to the Hallmark fans!

Cindy has built quite the resume in Hollywood and continues to carve out her own path. Many viewers may know her from her work on the critically acclaimed series Heartland. Hallmark fans will know Cindy from movies such as Marrying Mr. Darcy, Royal Hearts and the hit Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart. We also can’t forget her two seasons as Rebecca Jennings on the sorely missed series Cedar Cove. Outside of the Hallmark universe, Cindy has appeared in series such as Supernatural, Motive, Psych and The Tomorrow People.

We were lucky enough to talk with Cindy about her latest Hallmark project My Boyfriend’s Back Wedding March 5. How she is similar and different from her character, what it was like working with the cast and what fans can look forward to with this movie.

Pop Culture Principle – This is the fifth movie in the wedding March series. As an actor, how does it feel to be part of this popular Hallmark franchise?

Cindy Busby – It feels really great to be a part of such a beloved fan-favorite franchise. There’s a familiarity when you walk on set because Jack and Josie are so down to Earth and welcoming. It makes it easier to just jump right in. I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity.

Pop Culture Principle – Can you tell us about your character Annalise Collins?

Cindy Busby – Annalise Collins is a wedding planning and takes the big leap and finally starts her own company in NYC. She’s someone who’s always had a plan for her life and it was important to her to follow it step by step. She’s career driven, strong, smart, tenacious, and a perfectionist, but her weak spot is her ex, Brad. Since Brad unexpectedly broke up with her 5 years ago she’s distracted herself and closed her heart. Brad is someone who breaks the mold for her. He’s adventurous, spontaneous, and charismatic, and brings those uncommon characteristics out in Annalise.

Pop Culture Principle – Can you name one way in which you are like your character Annalise and one way in which you are not like her?

Cindy Busby – I can definitely relate to Annalise’s career driven and detail-oriented personality, but I don’t think I could be a wedding planner. Haha!

Pop Culture Principle – Although they both played it off when seeing each other for the first time after years apart, how do you think Annalise and Brad really felt in that moment?

Cindy Busby – I think in situations like that most human beings play it off cool, calm, and collected, but under the surface that is not the case. Having been in that situation myself, I can remember my heart pounding, sweat forming, saliva drying up, my face getting flushed, mind racing, confusion, anger, excitement, and embarrassment. It’s really an eruption of various thoughts and emotions. I don’t doubt that Annalise and Brad’s experiences would be very similar.

Pop Culture Principle – Do you think that both Brad and Annalise are still single five years later because they truly never got over one another?

Cindy Busby – I think that’s a big part of it. Their relationship was unresolved. Subsequently, Annalise and Brad spent a lot of those 5 years apart focusing on their careers and new lives in NYC and avoided love in fear of being heartbroken again. I’m a believer that if you’re meant to be together, life will always find a way to bring you back together somehow.

Pop Culture Principle – You have such great chemistry with Tyler Hynes on screen. What was it like working with him on this project?

Cindy Busby – Tyler and I have a similar sense of humor and work ethic, so it was easy going from day one. Having on-screen chemistry doesn’t always happen so seamlessly and in our case it was. We had a great time working together and I think that translates in “My Boyfriend’s Back: Wedding March 5″.

Pop Culture Principle – Wedding March also stars Jack Wagner and Josie Bisset. What can you tell us about working with them and did they have any advice for you?

Cindy Busby – I absolutely loved working with Jack and Josie. From day one they were incredibly kind and welcoming to the entire cast and the crew and that really set the tone for the entire shoot. They love to have fun while being consummate professionals and I personally really appreciate that. I don’t think there really was any advice just a great time with some unforgettable conversations.

Pop Culture Principle – It seems that Annalise and Brad’s story is similar and parallels Olivia and Nick’s story. Would you agree?

Cindy Busby – Totally! I think there’s something really romantic about Olivia and Mick being able to look at Annalise and Brad and see themselves. I also think there’s an interesting parallel between Annalise and Brad and Jen and Lucas, the ones getting married. It’s an interesting glimpse into the fun, charismatic, and free-loving relationship Annalise and Brad once had together. The relationships have a really cool past, present, future foreshadowing to each relationship.

Pop Culture Principle – Do you think Annalise sees Olivia as a mentor and someone she can confide in?

Cindy Busby – Olivia and Annalise have known each other for a couple of years and have worked together before, so it’s no surprise that when Brad shows up at the biggest wedding planning of her career, Annalise, looks to Olivia for help. She loves and respects Olivia and Mick’s relationship, so when she finds out they themselves got back together after years apart, Annalise starts to wonder if a future with Brad is possible, too.

Pop Culture Principle – Why do you think these Wedding March movies are resonating so well with viewers?

Cindy Busby – I think the answer to that is Jack Wagner and Josie Bisset. They’re both undeniably charming and their on/off screen connection is palpable. Then add weddings, romance, humor, love, and gorgeous scenery and you got yourself a winning formula.

Pop Culture Principle – What can fans look forward to with My Boyfriend’s Back: Wedding March 5?

Cindy Busby – The audience can expect great chemistry between the entire cast, some laughs, some tears and an ending that will make everyone very excited!
