Bates-Motel

Norman Bates shall still be a part of our lives at least for two more seasons.

A&E has renewed Bates Motel for two more seasons consisting of a total of 20 episodes. Production on the two seasons will start later this year and the episodes will begin airing in 2016.

“The vision of our incredible creative team has exposed the steady breakdown of the relationship between Norman and Norma Bates,” said A&E & Lifetime EVP and GM Rob Sharenow. “We are thrilled to bring fans two more seasons to witness the next stages of Norman’s transformation into the most notorious psychopath in cinematic history.”

Bates Motel is considered a “contemporary prequel” to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho (based on Robert Bloch’s novel of the same name), and depicts the lives of Norman Bates and his mother Norma prior to the events portrayed in the film.

All the news coming from A&E was not good news as the network decided not to move forward with a second season of its freshman series The Returned. Although the series did do a little better than the series that was previously paired with Bates Motel, Those Who Kill, it still didn’t pull in good enough numbers to be given a second season.
