ABC Cancels 'The Whispers' After One Season

It seems as though all the whispers will finally stop.

ABC announced today that it would not be bringing back its freshman series The Whispers for a second season.

This doesn't come as much of a surprise as the network let the options on the series cast expire after four months which would mean new contracts would have to be negotiated if a renewal was in the cards.

Although the series premiered strong with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.7 million viewers in Live+Same Day numbers, the series ratings began to decline throughout its run. The finale drew a 0.7 and 2.8 million viewers in Live+Same Day numbers.

The Whispers starred Lily Rabe, Milo Ventimiglia, Barry Sloan and Derek Webster. The series follows a series of accidents that happen around children who all seem to be communicating with the same imaginary friend and the FBI Child Specialist who investigates the accidents.
