The CW’s series Beauty & the Beast had become the little show that could on the network.
On several occasions the series seemed to be on the brink of cancellation, only to eek out yet another renewal. Well, it seems like the show’s luck has run out.
Today, the CW announced that the beloved series would end after the 13 episode fourth season.
While the series was never a ratings winner for the network, it did have a loyal fanbase and a very strong presence in social media.
Beauty & the Beast starred Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan and is loosely based on the 1980s series of the same name that starred Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. This version has a NYPD officer and a former soldier who are romantically involved while she tries to find the person who murdered her mother.
The fourth season of Beauty & the Beast will wrap production next month and is scheduled to air midseason or summer of 2016.
