Actor, writer, director and producer Angelique Rivera is proof that one can’t just sit around and wait for something to happen.

During the pandemic, Rivera took it upon herself to reflect on her life and that led to her writing the short film I’m Not Okay. As described on the IMDB page for the short film, I’m Not Okay follows Hope (Rivera) who one night prays for clarity after experiencing the worst year of her life, but when she wakes up and begins to think out loud it challenges her way of living and perspective on life as a whole..

The film was recently selected for the Orlando Film Festival and will make its world premiere at that event.

We had the chance to sit down with this talented artist to talk about the genesis of this project, what it was like as a first time director and what message she would like viewers to take away after watching I’m Not Okay.
