We wonder if the fine folks at Hallmark could have imagined the staying power and longevity of their franchise Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

The gang will be back for its ninth movie, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Travelled on February, 11th at 7/6c. One of the reasons for the success of the franchise is the work of actress Crystal Lowe.

Playing the quirky and lovable Rita Haywith, she has become the heart and soul of the franchise. In their most recent adventure Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Home Again, Norman finally proposed to Rita in one of the most romantic scenes in Signed, Sealed, Delivered’s history.

Today, we sit down with Crystal to talk about the gangs upcoming adventure, how protective she is of her character and what she’d like to say to the fans of Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Pop Culture Principle – How does it feel to be back for the franchises ninth Hallmark movie?

Crystal Lowe – I’m thrilled to be back. I’m so proud of our show and how much people love it.

Pop Culture Principle – In the most recent movie Home Again, Norman and Rita make their engagement official. What was it like shooting the scene where Norman gives Rita her ring?

Crystal Lowe – Oh lord…there were a whole lotta tears. It was wonderful shooting that scene with Geoff. We have been chasing each other for so long that it was wonderful to really take it to another level.

Pop Culture Principle – We also get to meet Rita’s parents in Home Again. How important was it to the character’s overall story for the viewers to meet Rita’s parents and learn a little more about her backstory?

Crystal Lowe – I think it’s very important that we met Rita’s family. Whenever you see where someone comes from you really have a better understanding of who they are.

Pop Culture Principle – Do you feel the writers picked the right time in the series for their engagement to become official?

Crystal Lowe – The one thing Martha Williamson knows is timing. She always knows exactly when to say and do the right thing.

Pop Culture Principle – What can you tell us about the plot of the upcoming movie The Road Less Travelled?

Crystal Lowe – The Postables discover a Camera with pictures that prove to be clues. We follow the photos to discover who has been sending them and why.

Pop Culture Principle – Will we see Rita and Norman continue to work on the plans for their wedding and is there anything you can tell us about the plans?

Crystal Lowe – I can tell you this…a wedding is in the very near future!!!!! Make sure you tune in for movie 10!!!

Pop Culture Principle – We also have seen Oliver and Shane take their relationship even further. Will we see their romance continue to blossom in The Road Less Travelled?

Crystal Lowe – This film really deals with communication between both couples and how each couple deals with difficult times. Shane and Oliver’s trust is put to the test and we watch as they learn to deal with issues that arise for them as well.

Pop Culture Principle – After playing Rita for a season and nine movies, as an actor, how protective have you become of that character?

Crystal Lowe – Protective is an understatement. Rita and I are the same in so many ways. We are both woven into each other. And we have both grown so much throughout the series.

Pop Culture Principle – Do you have any ambition to maybe write and/or direct one of the SSD movies?

Crystal Lowe – As much as I would love to direct one I’m not sure that I would want to be in front of and behind the camera at the same time just yet. When I direct I become obsessed with every little detail lol so I think for now it’s one or the other.

Pop Culture Principle – The SSD franchise has some very loyal fans. What would you like to say to the fans who support this series now and since the first season of the series?

Crystal Lowe – To our dear fans…you have given us so much light and love. I only hope that we have filled your lives with as much kindness and hope that you have given to us. We are forever grateful. ❤️

Pop Culture Principle – What else can viewers look forward to with The Road Less Travelled?

Crystal Lowe – Expect to see a spectacular performance for Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

We would like to thank Crystal Lowe for taking time from her work to talk with us. Remember, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Travelled airs on Sunday, February 11th at 7/6c.
