With the popularity of films such as The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, the found footage genre has had a steady flow of films released that were of varying quality. One would wonder why someone would try and release another film from a genre that is already cluttered with many forgotten efforts.
Well, in steps Bobby Roe and Zack Edwards, the creative force behind the film The Houses October Built. Not only have they crafted a fantastic found footage film, but they were able to add a twist to the genre that will give audiences a reason to watch it.
The film follows a group of friends who are looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, they set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them.
Both Bobby and Zack took time from their promoting the project to talk with the Pop Culture Principle about the found footage genre, what separates their film from the others and why this became a five year passion project for the both of them.
