True Detective became a huge success for HBO during its first season and there was no question that the series would receive a second season. The question that did arise was who was going to replace Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the leads. Both actors received Emmy nods for their performances on the gritty drama.

Several names have been thrown around as to who would be joining the series. One name that seemed to pop up often was that of Colin Farrell. While speaking to the Sunday World, Farrell confirmed that he would be joining the second season.

“I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”, said the Ireland native. He went on to add “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited.”

We reached out to Colin’s representation to confirm the story but haven’t heard back as of yet.

Stay tuned…
