Well, it seems like another marriage has come to an end.
Today, FX announced that it would not be picking up its comedy series Married for a third season.
The cancellation of Married shouldn’t come as a surprise to its small but devoted fanbase. Although the network renewed the series for a second season, it wasn’t due to great ratings, but due to the faith the brass had in the creative direction of the series.
The series suffered a major fall in the ratings compared to the modest numbers from season one. Married recently aired its season two finale and the show is the lowest rated on the network so far this year.
The show averaged just 410,000 viewers and a 0.19 in the 18-49 demo in the Live+Same Day numbers. The season two finale, now series finale, drew 593,000 viewers and 388,000 adults 18-49.
Show creator Andrew Gurland tweeted the news earlier today to fans of the show:
There will be no season three of @MarriedFX. Thank you @FXNetworks for the opportunity and thank you to all the fans. It's been a blast.
