It looks like another HBO favorite will be coming to an end very soon.
The sometimes controversial series Girls will end its run after receiving a final renewal for a sixth season. That sixth season will premiere in 2017.
According to Deadline, the decision to end the series after six seasons was a mutual agreement between HBO and the shows producers.
Lena Dunham has stated several times in interviews that the series would end after six seasons.
In a September interview on Z100’s “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, Dunham said, ““Never say never, but that is the way that we’re thinking about it right now, and we’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women.”
Although Girls was never a big ratings draw for HBO, it did make a star out of Lena Dunham and became a pop culture sensation.
Girls follows aspiring writer Hannah as she tries to find her way in life and who also struggles to support herself.
