We are feeling a little bit of HBO deja vu.

After initially renewing Vinyl for a another season, the premium channel network has changed its mind and decided not to move forward with a second season.

Vinyl follows a 1970s record executive trying to save his company. The series received alot of hype before its debut, but premiered to disappointing ratings for HBO.

“After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of Vinyl,” HBO said Wednesday in a statement. “Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project.”

The writing may have been on the wall in April when showrunner Terence Winter was let go.

If this sounds familiar, it should. HBO initially had renewed the Jack Black led series The Brink, only to reverse its decision and cancel the series.
