The recent strikes in Hollywood had both writers and actors looking for better compensation for their work and several other sticking points. One of those major sticking points was the use of AI. It’s a subject that sparks intense debate on both sides and a subject that will continue to be discussed for the foreseeable future.

A movie was recently released by indie filmmaker Franklin Ritch that looks at and asks questions about AI.

The Artifice Girl was written and directed by Franklin Ritch, who also stars in the film. The film also stars Tatum Matthews, Sinda Nichols, David Girard, and veteran actor Lance Henriksen. The film follows agents who discover an AI computer program that uses a digital child to catch online predators, it advances far more rapid than they could have imagined, posing unforeseen challenges for the relationship between humans and AI.

We had the chance to sit down with Franklin to talk about the genesis of the idea for the film, his thoughts about AI and what the future could hold for AI and what it was like working with veteran actor Lance Henriksen.
