And just like that, there will be no more Special Agent Aaron Hotchner.

Deadline is reporting that original Criminal Minds cast member Thomas Gibson has been fired from the series.

ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios released the following statement:

“Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds. Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”

Gibson had initially been suspended for two weeks after allegedly kicking co-executive producer Virgil Williams. But that wasn’t the first issue with him on the set of the long-running series. He also got into hot water and had to attend anger management classes after hitting assistant director Ian Woolf.

Gibson has played Special Agent Aaron Hotchner since the series premiered in 2005.

Criminal Minds returns for its twelfth season on September 28.
