At the end of season one, the writers for Ties That Bind left us with a major cliffhanger, probably thinking they would be back for another season.
Unfortunately, for fans of the series, that is not going to be the case.
According to the official Ties That Bind Twitter and Facebook accounts, UPtv has decided not to bring the series back for a second season.
“After thoughtful consideration, UP has decided to not renew “Ties That Bind.” The decision was not made lightly as we appreciate our passionate viewers who were not ready for the story to end. We want to thank the cast and crew for their tremendous dedication. Your commitment to this series was extraordinary.”
The series was the network’s first foray into original scripted series and although not a huge ratings hit, the series garnered a very loyal fanbase in a short amount of time and was able to trend on Twitter on several occasions.
Ties That Bind starred Kelli Williams and Jonathan Scarfe and followed the day to day life of experienced police officer Allison McLean (Williams) and how she balances her sometimes demanding job and her family life.
Adding to the mix, her brother Tim (Luke Perry) is arrested and sent to prison and while he is there, they take in his two kids and must adjust to their new situation and band together.
