Well, we have our first show that has broken the trend of series having their episode order cut instead of being outright cancelled.
ABC has pulled its freshman series Wicked City from its schedule after just three episodes. In it’s place, the network will air reruns of Shark Tank.
The series is currently filming Episode 8 and production will end after its completion.
In recent months, networks have been more than patient with series on their schedules and for shows like Fox’s Minority Report and NBC’s The Player, they opted to cut the episode order instead of cancellation.
The heavily promoted Wicked City premiered to low ratings and continued to drop the next two episodes. The most recent episode saw a 0.4 Live+Same Day rating among adults 18-49-not good.
It would seem that the 10pm Tuesday night slot on ABC’s schedule is the kiss of death. Lucky 7, Killer Women and Mind Games have all been cancelled after just a few episodes. Only Forever and Body of Proof were able to air at least one full season.
