The Strain will return for a third season next summer, taking fans even deeper into the thriller from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, based off of the best-selling The Strain Trilogy by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, it was announced today by Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions.
The second season of The Strain is currently airing on FX Sundays at 10 PM e/p.
“Guillermo and Carlton have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans’ high expectations in the process,” said Schrier. “We’re excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX.”
Also announced at the FX Networks presentation:
– The network announced the premiere dates for several of its upcoming series. The Bastard Executioner series premiere will be Tuesday, September 15th at 10 PM E/P. The highly anticipated return of American Horror Story: Hotel will be Wednesday, October 7th at 10 PM E/P. Finally, the premiere of Fargo will happen on Monday, October 12th at 10 PM E/P.
– FXX has picked up Cassius and Clay, an animated action-buddy comedy starring Kaitlin Olson as “Cassius” and Lake Bell as “Clay,” bandits looking to survive in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic American South. Ten episodes have been ordered for the first season, due to air on FXX in 2016.
– After six memorable seasons on FX, the hit animated comedy Archer will move to FXX for its seventh season and be paired with Cassius and Clay in 2016.
– And finally, FX has ordered the first season of the comedy series Better Things, co-created by and starring Pamela Adlon. The 10-episode first season will be produced by C.K.’s production company Pig Newton for FX Productions.
